Apollo 11

Acton began gluing matchsticks together in January 2019 for his 50th anniversary tribute to the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing. The ¼-scale model of the lunar lander Eagle took 263,000 matchsticks and 15 gallons of wood glue. Acton completed the 1/17-scale model of the Saturn V rocket in April 2020. The Saturn V model stretches over 20 feet long with 241,000 matchsticks and 13 gallons of wood glue.
