Iowa artist
Patrick Acton turns ordinary wooden matchsticks into incredible works
of art. The Matchstick Marvels display is wood art at its best,
showing creativity and detail work unmatched by other skilled woodworkers.
Millions of matchsticks have been painstakingly glued together to
represent scaled models of life-like sculptures, intricate machines,
and world renown architecture.
Acton's
work has been seen on ABC's Extreme Makeover, Home Edition, Home
and Garden TV, Public Television, and High Definition TV .
Additionally, Matchstick Marvels have been featured in magazines such
as Highlights for Children, Reminisce, AAA Travel, Wood, The Iowan,
Country America , Farm Bureau, and Workbench.
Since 1977 Acton has used
3 million matchsticks to build large detailed models. Many are
featured in Ripley's Believe It or Not museums in North America, Australia,
Asia, and Europe. Come visit the Matchstick Marvels tourist
center and see why these works are on exhibit around the world.
